Project background
After conducting a full audit of the existing Figma file, carefully analyzing and identifying areas for improvement. Key components were restructured and repurposed to align with the refined user journey we crafted in collaboration with the client.
Trusty's community-driven model sets it apart — every business listed is added by a local, creating a trustworthy, grassroots directory with authentic connections.
Client’s feedback
I highly recommend Vertex Experience to anyone seeking a collaborative partner who delivers both creative design and scalable Webflow development.
Problem Statement
The challenge was to understand why the previous design wasn’t converting. We started by sitting down with the client to walk through the current experience and uncover friction points. Through persona development and user journey mapping, we identified key user pain points and how they affected engagement.
This deep dive allowed us to deconstruct the existing flow and reposition the user at the centre of the experience. The branding also felt outdated, so the client partnered with a creative agency to redefine its visual identity. With the new branding in place, we revisited and updated every screen to ensure consistency and relevance. To validate our direction, we conducted user testing, including A/B testing across different user groups. This gave us the insights we needed to pinpoint core issues and confidently propose new design directions.
Solution
Instead of jumping straight into visual design, we began with user research to gather meaningful insights. For us, research isn’t just a checkbox — it’s a foundation. But what truly matters is applying those findings effectively during the wireframing phase.
We created low-fidelity wireframes based on the data collected and tested them internally within our team. This lean, iterative process allowed us to quickly identify potential issues and explore alternative solutions before moving into high-fidelity design.
Key Requirements
At the heart of this experience was what we referred to as the “Search UI” a powerful, user-friendly search feature that allows users to easily discover businesses through simple filters.
For example: Just moved to Mauritius and want a great coffee spot in the north? Head to Trusty’s search bar, type “coffee”, select the “Coffee” category, choose “North” as the region, hit enter and there you go, all your results in seconds.
This seamless interaction was especially important to Blake, the founder and visionary behind Trusty. As a team, it was essential for us to understand this specific user scenario not only to design it effectively, but also to offer strategic input on how to bring it to life in a scalable, user-centric way.
The project also included multiple user journeys, each requiring a tailored approach to ensure a coherent and optimized experience across the platform.

Communication between the client and our team flowed seamlessly. Every idea and question raised during the process was carefully considered, ensuring no detail was overlooked and every perspective was acknowledged.
Summary
Vertex Experience was brought in to rethink the UX after the initial design failed to convert. We conducted in-depth user research, persona development, and journey mapping to uncover pain points and realign the user experience.
At the core of the redesign was the “Search UI” — a powerful yet simple search feature that lets users quickly find businesses through filters like category and location. This interaction was central to the founder’s vision and required strategic input to ensure usability and scalability.
The project involved full UX restructuring, low-fidelity wireframes, user testing, and close collaboration with the client. Each design decision was rooted in research and validated through testing, resulting in a streamlined and effective digital experience.
